Iconic Australian trailer manufacturer, The Drake Group, is known for taking its displays to new heights at Brisbane Truck Show, stacking skels and hanging low-loaders from the roof – if you can dream it, they’ve done it!
The Brisbane-based third-generation family business builds some of the toughest trailers on the roads with many of their customers running units that are 20 or 30 years old, which is a testament to their enduring quality.
The Drake Group, which encompasses Drake Trailers, O’Phee Trailers, Dalzell & Bagley and BoxLoader, specialises in an array of heavy haulage-focused low loaders, skels, flat tops and just about anything else you could need for serious transport work.
At the 2025 Brisbane Truck Show the company took its showing sky high, standing a trailer on its head – literally!
“We’re taking a skel and we’re standing it upright, then putting it on a rotator we built with our engineers using the same ball race we use on our trailers – because why not!” The Drake Group Director, Sam Drake, told us ahead of the show.

“We’ve also got a Queenslander Flat Top, which is a rebirth of a model that Mick O’Phee created back in the day, so we’re showcasing that too.
“Then there’s a Membrey’s Transport 5×8 swing wide extendable trailer, which in itself is very impressive. So there’s a good spread of what we do on the stand, and it’s displayed beautifully.”
Another business within the Group is Drake Collectibles, which offers a range of iconic 1/50 scale die-cast truck and trailer models, and to suggest it’s developed a cult following would be an understatement.
“The collectibles will be upstairs, where they were at the last show, with limited-edition releases every day – so that’ll get the tongues wagging!” Drake says.

“The domestic and worldwide appeal of our die-cast truck and trailer models is truly unbelievable and continues to amaze us. It is a true testament to Bruce Hay and his team and the quality work they continue to do.”
The Drake Group team was on the stand to answer questions, demonstrate their products and catch up with customers across the three-day event.
“Brisbane Truck Show is the top event for us, because as a manufacturer it puts you on the big stage,” he says.
“It’s also about supporting our customers, giving them a platform and exposure too. We’ve got a reputation and the standard we set ourselves is to be the best – which we aim to show on our stand, from our trailers to our people.”
